Heh. G4. Sigh.
I really don't like G4's video game media. I like cinematech, because there's no hosts or talking. But I don't like X-Play. And I REALLY don't like Attack of the Show. And I really don't even think twice about Cheats or The Feed or any of that other crap.
I do watch X-Play time to time. When my show goes to a commercial and X-Play is on, I check out new titles, and then listen to what they say about them. Then I go look it up, because sometimes I've found they'll make a game I'd like sound like complete crap. I have yet to have this problem the other way around.
I stopped to listen to what they had to say about Burning Crusade (expansion pack for WoW for those who don't know!), and I remember listening to their review of it before, except this one was actually more thorough than the last. I remember a similar incident with WoW itself way back when. But to continue!
They were talking about how it wasn't really a daring expansion, it didn't add a new class which left them a little disappointed, but they were excited about the Draenei and Blood Elves and what not. Then they got to talking about Outland and here's a rough quote:
"Although Outland is a new continent, of the 9 new zones some of them weren't so great. Blade's Edge Mountains for example kind of sucked, but it was very pretty and really fun!"
How can something suck... but is fun?
How can someone write that, and not think about what the hell is wrong with that sentence.
I know G4 is being paid by these people to be advertised and "Hey say good things about us!" I can't prove it! Because I've never heard it from anyone, or seen anything on it, but there's just no way. Either some of the Higher Ups are just hardcore mac lovers, or Apple really is paying them SOMETHING. Or maybe someone is just a friend of Steve Jobs.
I mean hell the other day I saw a little skit of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs talking, and they made Bill Gates look like a total moron, while Steve Jobs appeared more "established".
Not that I support Microsoft. But to just be like that... it's really lame.
I don't think gamers will care if you put uggos up on the screen, so long as they're presenting actual game news, and not "LOL HALO 3. BIG NAMES. WOW. APPLE. PS3. BLUE RAY CHECK IT OUT. LOL!!!!!"
They're like MTV News but worse!
Not like I could do better. Hell I guess you'd have to sell out in order to be successful when mixing games and TV.
I see "good game TV" kind of stuff having a cult following for a long time before exploding into something semi-big. Probably would have to sell out a little in order to get popular.
Hell I dunno what I'm talking about! I just know I don't like G4. Maybe I should just stick to what I know.
